Inbody Measurement
Body Weight as a Measure of Health
Total body weight alone is not a clear indication of your overall health as it does not distinguish the amount of fat or lean mass
What does Inbody measure?
The Inbody measures your body composition in terms of water, fat, protein, muscle, bone mineral and much more. The device can determine the weight of lean muscle tissue in each limb, the amount and the percentage of body fat, bone mineral content, as well as a host of other valuable information.
Why Professionals Like Inbody
The Inbody data allows me as a Nutritionist to regularly monitor your level of body fat and in particular your visceral fat and skeletal muscle mass. This gives me the information I need to help create a strategy for your diet, lifestyle and training.
Summary of the Benefits of Inbody
- Safe – no X-ray
- Only take 30 minutes for assessment and review of report
- Can be done any time of day
- Useful for both adults and children over 10
- accurate against X ray technology (I have personally tested this by having both assessments on one day)
- gives key health data that can be used to plan food, exercise and lifestyle
- becomes an on-going monitoring
Guidelines For a Precise Measurement with Inbody
- Analysis should ideally be carried out before exercise and on an empty stomach and bladder
- Analysis should not be carried out after a shower or the use of a sauna as sweat and heat can cause a temporary change in conductivity within the body
- Wear comfortable clothing, removing any items with metal zippers, snaps and fasteners. Please remove all jewellery where possible
- To effectively track and monitor results, subsequent testing should be carried out under similar conditions (i.e. similar clothing, testing time, before eating or exercising etc.)
- Thoroughly wipe your palms and soles with the InBody tissue before testing. Testing may be difficult if your palms and soles are too dry or if you have too many calluses
- Avoid contact and talking with the examinee during testing.
