Teenage Nutrition
Do you only see Teenagers?
Teenagers are a special interest area however 50% of my client base are not teenagers. I work with both adults and the elderly and in some cases, the entire family. Our food choices are greatly influenced by our family eating culture and it helps to have all family members striving to make healthy choices together. This is a key factor in success.
Should a parent accompany a Teenager to the Nutrition appointment?
This is a encouraged but not essential. It helps if one or both parents attend the first appointment to understand the process, contribute background information and also to help implement the Nutrition strategy. Usually one or both parents are responsible for purchasing and preparing the food for their teen so it helps if they hear ‘first hand’ the key recommendations. If you are unable attend that is fine too. I always email parents in advance to advise that their teen has made an appointment and I send a follow-up email with my recommendations. This is usually the protocol when the teen is at Boarding School. Parents are encouraged to contact me at anytime with questions or concerns.
