Culinary Nutrition Journey with Chef Katie and Nutritionist Edwina

Join us on a culinary adventure as we explore the exciting trend of Culinary Nutrition, bridging the gap between nutritional science and everyday cooking. Chef Katie Ridgeway from Sage with Katie and Nutritionist Edwina, in collaboration, present Lessons in Food Chemistry—unique cooking classes designed to empower adults, teens, corporates, sporting teams, and private groups with the knowledge and skills to make healthier lifestyle choices through home cooking.

In the US the Culinary Nutrition movement is gaining momentum. While understanding proteins, fats, and carbs is essential, true change occurs when this scientific knowledge is applied to the meals we enjoy daily. Large hospitals in the US, including George Washington University, are incorporating culinary courses for patients, and Australia is following suit. At the Charles Perkins Centre, Chef Marzio Lanzini collaborates with RPA hospital to educate patients on special diet food preparation.

Recognising the effectiveness of hands-on learning, Lessons in Food Chemistry offers a unique approach where nutritional science meets the kitchen. Led by Chef Katie and Edwina, these classes provide practical skills to translate scientific knowledge into delicious and nutritious meals. They’ll also educate you on how to be more economical with your food. Did you know that UberEats meals can cost up to three times more than preparing the same meal at home?

Join us at Sydney Cooking School, located at 73 Military Road, Neutral Bay, every Sunday from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm for an exciting “Round the World” theme. Each lesson explores an easy-to-cook recipe from a different country, demonstrating how any cuisine can be made healthy using the provided formula.

Classes begin with an introduction to nutritional science and updates on the latest research, followed by a two-hour practical lesson guided by Chef Katie. Participants will then enjoy a sit-down lunch featuring their creations in a relaxed, fun, and supportive atmosphere. No prior cooking experience is assumed, so come challenge yourself and have fun along the way.
